The LA8 is a full-range, wide angle line array speaker designed for concert halls, nightclubs, theatre, ball-rooms and houses of worship. This line array system features an open natural sound and an exceptional 120° horizontal dispersion pattern.
The LA8 mid-low section comprises two high power 8” drivers housed in a compact, vented trapezoidal enclosure. To ensure the smoothest response in the critical mid range, the LA8 incorporates a special crossover circuit: at the lowest frequencies, both 8” drivers combine to reproduce powerful, coherent bass, while in the mid frequencies the crossover feeds only one of the two drivers, This special technique eliminates the interferences between drivers in the mid frequencies region. Besides that, this speaker is loaded by a special phase plug that widens dispersion in the horizontal coupling plane while narrowing it in the vertical non-coupling plane.
For the high frequencies the LA8 utilizes two 1” compression drivers mounted in an ICWG wave converter loaded by a 120° constant directivity wave guide.
Like the LA12, the LA8 was designed for use in groups of four or more, producing a symmetrical predictable polar pattern with a uniform power response, virtually free of comb-filtering problems.
The LA8 cabinets are constructed using 13-ply birch plywood and finished in durable black semi-matt textured paint. Front and speakers protection is assured by acoustically transparent foam and a power coated metal grille. A fast integral rigging system allows variable splay angles from 0° to 8° in 1° increments.
The LA8 can be used alone or combined with the LAs115 in either mobile or permanent sound installations. The LA8 is the ideal system for mid-sized applications or as downfill in larger venues.
